Here is the Vanship Model I made for my friend Matt Bailey, a graphics designer (Signs, lettering, vinyl graphics and more) who owned and operated "Anime House"(Anime rentals and sales) for several years and currently operates the Upside café (Coffee and Live Music) In Port Angeles WA.

It’s a great place to hang out. check it out sometime!

Vanship Model from the anime "Last Exile"

This is Klaus Valka and Lavie Head's vanship. These are 1930's looking air ships used by couriers and military pilots in the show. Klaus and Lavie are children of famous couriers.

I know the pilots don't look like them but thats what I could do with what I had on hand in my model parts bins.

The original model is the small paper model (about 6 inches long) included with the limited edition copy of the DVD series. Matt wanted a large one so I scanned this, did some editing/enlargement and then re-printed it on water resistant paper stock using a HP1050c 36 inch wide plotter.

The model is made of paper glued over card stock. Enamel model paints, wire, balsa and clear lexan for the windscreens went into this. The final satin finish is shellac to seal the paper.

The scale is 1:24 scale using pilot figures from a German Stuka model.

Below are a few screen shots from the show.
